Drink your Wine – Save your Corks!
The do-it-yourself fire starter tricks… do they really work? Well, drink your wine and save your corks!
This DIY fire starter is readily accessible if you drink wine, with real cork corks (not those plastic ones). Here’s the trick… Get a mason jar, fill 3/4 of the way with corks and drench them in rubbing alcohol to the top. They will need to soak for over 3 days – you’ll see them start to plump up – any time prior to this, yes they will lite but they die out fast. The key to any successful fire is tinder and kindling. The cork fire starter will hold a flame once started, but they won’t last long enough to catch a log on fire. You really need to hone in on building the fire with tinder and plenty of kindling.
