Ventura Ranch KOA

Camp or camping? Perfect for first timers!!

Rating 4-5 - the reasons this campground doesn't have 5 stars is it's hard to reserve specific sites without calling and if you have a friend with a tent - they have to go in the tent section which is not close to the trailers.

If you're not familiar with a KOA... it's like camp! They generally have scheduled events, pools and outside activities for kids, laundry mats and snack shack, and very nice bathroom facilities. Ventura KOA is especially fun because they have a zip line, Big Foot hike and a rather large bouncy platform. On top of that, there's plenty of hiking and exploring around the grounds... and downtown Ventura is 30 minutes away.

This KOA is pretty spread out and bringing bikes is not only fun, but will also save you time when going back and forth from the pool and activity center back to your site. There's plenty of room at each site and entire campground vibe is geared towards kids. There's even wild peacocks that wander around in the morning.

Would I go again? YES! Already have... I've camped in my pop-up trailer and in my tent - all were great experiences. This KOA also offers cabins... that's next on the list!
